The 2019 Wordsworth Winter School
18 - 23 February 2019 at Rydal Hall
Directors Stephen Gill and Richard Gravil
"Wordsworth's Poetical Heirs (Continued)"
The Wordsworth Winter School devotes four full days (five nights) to immersion in the poetry of Wordsworth and his contemporaries. There are two lectures, a seminar and a poetry reading on each of the main days. Afternoons are devoted to a special event, a walk or an excursions, Most events are at Rydal Hall. We do not accept residential bookings for less than the full period.
The 2013 Winter School looked at the significance of Wordsworth to other Romantics, some Victorians, and early Modernists. Continuing this theme, speakers at the 2019 event are likely to consider such 20th Century poets as Thomas Hardy, Edward Thomas, Wallace Stevens, Philip Larkin, and Seamus Heaney.
Details will be published here in September 2018 and bookings will open in October
For an impression of the event please see the 2018 details below, or browse recent programmes in the Archive. We expect prices to be virtually unchanged in 2019.
